Welcome to Frankfort Transit
The Frankfort Transit System provides three deviated-fixed routes. This service runs from 6:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. These routes provide full coverage of all major shopping centers, doctor's offices, hospital, senior citizen's complex and most state office buildings. A printed schedule is available upon request from a route driver. Fares for this service are 50 cents each way for passengers 13 - 54, Free for children 12 and under, Senior Citizens 55 and up 25 cents each way with one free transfer per run.
Deviations - These routes keep a set timetable; the buses can do two deviations per run up to ¾ of a mile off the route to a specific location for curb to curb service. Deviations require a 24 hour notice; reservations must be scheduled by 2:30p.m. the day before the requested pick-up.. All trips will be scheduled on a first come basis. Job Access/Reverse Commute (JARC) is another demand response service that addresses the unique transportation challenges faced by welfare recipients and low-income persons seeking to get and keep jobs. The program is intended to make transportation to and from employment more accessible but, not limited to low income or job related. This service is available from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This service requires a 24 hour notice; reservations must be scheduled by 2:30p.m. the day before the requested pick-up. The fare for this service is $1.00 each way within the City limits.
Demand Response operates throughout the city limits of Frankfort, providing one way, curb to curb service, depending on the needs of the passengers and if there is not an accessible deviated fixed route. Demand Response is comprised of vans, small buses and large buses operating in response to calls from passengers or their agents to the transit operator, who then dispatches a vehicle to pick up the passengers and transport them to their destinations. Persons with disabilities are given priority for this service; Senior Citizens 55 and older and others who require special assistance. The cost is $1.00 each way. Children 12 and under are free accompanied by an adult. Only service animals are allowed to be transported, no exceptions. Service is available Monday through Friday, 5:30a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., to schedule a ride for this service requires a 24 hour advance reservation. Reservations must be scheduled by 2:30 p.m. the day before the appointment; we reserve the right to negotiate the time requested due to other commitments.
